- How secure is my transaction with The QuizMaker?
All orders made with The QuizMaker are via HTTPS which is an ultra secure way of sending data over the internet. Order details, name and email address get transferred via SSL, a 2048-bit RSA-encrypted channel. In layman's terms your details get scrambled using sophisticated communication technology. There is no way of capturing this information whilst in transit.
Once you have made your order you are then transferred to our designated payment processor, PayPal to make any payment due. You never at any point share your payment details with The QuizMaker website.
Your payment transaction goes through PayPal, the biggest online payment processor in the world. 18% of all e-commerce transactions get processed using their payment gateway.
For peace of mind, any transaction you make with us [The QuizMaker] get covered by PayPal's guarantees. Read more about PayPal's purchase protection here.
Finally, in the 2,000 plus transactions we have made since 2012 we have had just one issue. We refunded one customer a couple of years ago… because we spotted they had bought the same Quiz twice!
- How are the Quizzes supplied?
A full Quiz download comprises the Questions, a Picture Round and a Wild Card.
The Questions
The Questions come supplied as a single .zip file containing two A4 PDF files and a simple text file:
– One PDF (Quiz XXX - Questions.pdf) is the 40+ questions over four A4 pages with the answers under each question in bold. The four pages are the four rounds of the Quiz; General Knowledge on page 1, Music page 2, Sport on page 3 and finally Film & TV on page 4.
– The other PDF (Quiz XXX - Questions Only.pdf) is just the questions over four A4 pages with a space below each question for an answer. This is if you want to hand out the Quiz to your teams so they can fill in the blanks with the answers (or if you want to try the Quiz yourself).
– The text file is all 40 Questions as a list with the answers under each question. This is useful if you already do a quiz but in a different way. You can use the text file to pick and choose questions to copy and paste into your existing quiz format. The Picture Round
The Picture Round is a two page A4 PDF. The Picture Round with blanks for the answers are on page one and the same Picture Round is on page two showing the answers. Occasionally there may be more pages in the PDF. If the Picture Round is extreme close ups of logos for instance there may be a third page showing the full logos.
The Wild Card
The Wild Card is a single page A4 PDF with the answer under the question.
A note about printing
If you are going to print the Quiz questions and Picture Round to an A4 printer it will be better to do this using a desktop or laptop computer. Desktop and laptop computers are much better for printing to desktop printers. You can print from some tablets but it tends to be a more complicated process. Most smart phones are a non-starter for printing PDF files.

If our email is in the junk or spam folder tell your email app or programme that we are a trusted sender. How you do this will depend upon what email app or programme you use. Adding The QuizMaker as a trusted sender will prevent any future receipts from us getting junked.
If after checking your junk or spam folder there is still no sign of this email please use the Contact Form or email us. We will then find your order on our system and re-send you the receipt.
- I can't access the Questions in the Quiz XXX - Questions.zip file?
There are three versions of the Quiz Questions which we have combined into one single package for easy download. This is a .zip file which some computers will 'un-zip' on download. If your computer does not unzip the file you may need to do this manually. This can be as simple as double clicking the .zip file which may prompt the computer to unpack the three files. If this does not work on your computer you may need to install some new software. This is an easy process, here's some links that explain how to install the software required on both PC (Windows) and Mac computers.
If you still can't unzip your Questions, just email us or use the Contact Form quoting your order number. We will send you the three individual question files within 24 hours.
- I can't open the PDF files?
Most modern desktop computers and laptops have built in software that will open PDF files and all you need do to open the Question and Picture Round is double click the file. However some older computers and laptops may not have this capability.
If your computer or laptop can't open the PDF file it's a fairly straightforward process to download and install the Adobe Acrobat Reader software required free of charge. Just click the link below and then follow the instructions on the Adobe website.

Quiz content
- What is it best device to view and print the Quiz downloads?
We have designed the Quiz downloads primarily for unzipping, opening and printing on a desktop or laptop computer. There are some tablets that will open .zip files and print PDFs but it tends to be a more complicated process and most mobiles are just a non-starter.
If you have downloaded your files to a tablet or mobile we recommend re-downloading them to your desktop or laptop computer.
- Why do some of the questions have additional text in brackets?
The additional info inside the brackets is to make the questions a little easier. You may wish to include these clues if you think your audience may benefit from a bit of a help. For instance:
The song First Time Ever I Saw Your Face by Roberta Flack appears on the soundtrack of which classic 1970’s film (starring Clint Eastwood)?
If your audience is more middle aged than student you may ask the above question excluding 'starring Clint Eastwood'. Whereas is there are a lot of 20 somethings they may not have heard of the film so adding 'starring Clint Eastwood' might give them a little clue!
- Have the answers to the questions been checked?
We are OCD when it comes to checking the answers to our questions. There is nothing worse than a quizzer challenging the answer of a question during a live quiz... it discredits the Quiz Master!
Each question we write is strictly validated against two online trusted sources, not Wikipedia. We don't have anything against Wikipedia, it's a tremendous resource but it's content can sometimes be flawed so we tend to use more 'trusted' sources. For instance, when writing a General Knowledge Question we might use Encyclopedia Britannica and a more specialised online resource like NASA for a space related question. If it's a chart question we might use the Official Charts Company along with NME and if it's a Film & TV Question we might use the official BBC archives cross referenced with a fan based Wiki on the show.
So rest assured the answers to our questions have been researched fully.
These are the first batch of FAQs, we will continue to add more.
